Who we are

WeVu (we-vu.com) is booking and reviews software for hospitality. We operate the WeVu iOS app for diners, the WeVu booking widget and hosted venue pages, and the WeVu dashboard for venues. For data protection purposes WeVu is the controller for the platform; each venue is the controller of its own guest list and bookings, with WeVu acting as its processor.

Contact: wevu24@gmail.com.

What we collect

Account details — name, email, and password (stored as a secure hash), or your Apple / Google sign-in identity if you use those buttons.

Bookings — date, time, party size, special requests, occasion or accessibility tags you choose, and the contact details you give when booking (name, email, phone). Bookings are shared with the venue you book: that is the service.

Experiences and reviews — star ratings, review text, and photos or videos you add. Published reviews are public. When you start an experience we check your device's location once, only to mark the review as made nearby; we store whether you were near the venue, not a movement history.

Device and technical data — a push notification token if you allow notifications, and product analytics events (screens used, bookings made) tied to a random per-install key, not to advertising identifiers. We use no advertising trackers.

For venues — business name, address, contact details, opening hours, and verification records (we check public sources such as the Food Standards Agency register before enabling online bookings).

How we use it

To run bookings between you and venues (contract). To publish the reviews you choose to publish (contract). To send booking reminders and updates you have opted into (consent). To keep the platform safe — rate limits, abuse prevention, review authenticity checks (legitimate interests). To improve the product using first-party analytics (legitimate interests). We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

AI features

If you use “Generate” to draft a review, the ratings and dish photos from that visit are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to produce a draft in your chosen style. The draft is yours to edit or discard; nothing is published without your action.

Where your data lives and who helps us

Data is stored with Supabase in the EU (London region). Error monitoring is provided by Sentry. Sign-in options are provided by Apple and Google. Weather hints for outdoor tables use Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, which receive coordinates only — never your identity. Push notifications are delivered by Apple.

How long we keep it

Bookings and reviews are kept while your account or the venue's account is active, as they form the venue's business records and your public contributions. You can delete your reviews. If you ask us to close your account we delete or anonymise your personal data unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email wevu24@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies and on-device storage

We use only essential storage: your sign-in session, your preferences (like dark mode or map view), and a random key that rate-limits abuse on the public booking widget. We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, which is why you don't see a consent wall — there is nothing optional to consent to. If that ever changes, we will ask first.
